Woh Lamhe

Before you read this review I would like you to read this first an article by Mahesh Bhatt. Yes the film is based upon the story of Parveen Babi and Mahesh Bhatt. I am not writing about them, I am writing about the film. This is the first film of Mohit Suri that I watched. But somehow I am confused that whether he is a good director or not.
The film started from the present with the incident of a famous actress Sana Azim (Kangana Ranaut) slashing her wrists in a hotel room and then we travel back 3 years from then in the memory of Aditya Garewal (Shiny Ahuja). We see their first meeting and the way Aditya impresses Sana Azim. We see a woman both dazzling and bold and who does not care about taking off her panty to an unknown person in exchange of his challenge and at the same time we see the same woman being tamed by men. But the rythm breaks from the rape scene where the background music was something like a learner's experiment. But the film flows well for the nice acting of Kangana Raunat and Shiny Ahuja. Again we see good directions, good songs and good camera jobs. Particularly the scene where Aditya Garewal is being informed of his father's death is marvelous. I am very eager to see this kind of artistry in commercial hindi films to the maximum extent possible. Now I go directly to the end where we see Sana Azim waiting for his death but wants to meet Aditya for the last time. As Aditya enters the cabin, we discover a flaw in Kangana's acting, her sudden shoulder movement which for any person waiting for death after slashing her wrist is not possible and the steady hand movement is also impossible. The film ends well with Shiny Ahuja's acting. But during the whole cinema, sometimes the background music seems very disturbing especially during the appearences of Rani(Sana Azim's schizophrenic fiction). The background music simply takes away the viewer's from the mood of the film. The director may hate Schizophrenia but he should also take it into his mind that it is not a ghost, it is a psychologycal disorder. Probably minimising the intensity of the music at such times could have worked better.
